Life always takes unexpected twists and turns. Until a few years ago, I had never imagined that I would become a teacher. Growing up in a family of scholars, academics, and teachers, the idea of teaching initially intimidated me. I believed I had little to offer. Despite years of dedicated learning and a career in the architecture industry spanning five years, my entry into academia was purely coincidental.š§
As I reflect on my journey as an educator, what began as pure happenstance, evolved into an informed choice. To my pleasant surprise, teaching became second nature to me. I gradually realized that teaching aligned perfectly with my personality and essence. It allowed me to embrace my love for communication, deep listening, and the art of being heard. Teaching provided a safe yet challenging space where I could indulge my passions for books, research, continuous learning, and connecting with new souls. It nurtured my desires for constant movement and deep connections while allowing me to empower the individual that I am.šŖ
Above all, the art of education taught me patience, compassion, and acceptanceš. It fostered a sense of humanity, not only towards my students, colleagues, and superiors but most importantly, towards myself. Teaching opened doors to perpetual learning and continuous improvement by encouraging me to keep my heart and mind open to change and challenges alike. In the past few years of my teaching journey, I encountered significant personal challenges, yet I navigated through them with newfound strength; courtesy of the lives I had touched as an educator. These experiences made my trials easier without dampening my inner spirit and external joy.š
As the evening descends, and I reflect, my phone continues to receive heartfelt messages from my students, now fellow architects. Their names and memories bring delight and joy to my heart. It's a moment of immense pride to witness these young professionals confidently stepping into the real world, establishing their practices, launching startups, winning competitions, securing Ivy-League admissions, and landing their dream jobs. Teaching has been a thrilling roller coaster ride.š
As I persist in my pursuit of unleashing the power of education in my life and in the lives I touch, I am filled with gratitude for the profound role teaching has played. It has provided me with a powerful platformāa lifelong adventure of growth and self-discoveryš. As I conclude my day, aflame with inspiration to continue my learning curve and share knowledge, I'm reminded of a dialogue from the movie "Hichki," which resonates deeply with me: ā¤ļø
"An ordinary teacher teaches... a good teacher explains... a very good teacher sets an example through action... but some teachers inspire us for our entire lives."
Wonderful Saniya!! More power and strength to you.
